Legacy VM estates grow by default: servers provisioned for peak, never right-sized, still running long after their applications shrank. At aerospace scale, the stranded compute and storage were material money.
The data alone wouldn't fix it — the people who could actually release capacity were application leaders, and optimization had to become their job.
What we did
